Keynote Address: Rapid City's Innovation District

Tom Johnson, Elevate Rapid City

Innovation districts are an urban model emerging in the United States where leading-edge institutions and companies connect with start-ups and business incubators.

Hear how city, business, and university leaders in Rapid City are creating our own innovation district. The corridor, envisioned in 2016, encompasses the area east of 5th Street between Omaha Street and the hills to the south. The district is growing in engineering and high-tech businesses that provide tech industry jobs.

Tom Johnson is President and CEO of Elevate Rapid City. He has significant experience in New Market Tax Credits, business valuation, and workforce development. Tom has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting from Regis University.
